Looking for a RugCheck alternative?
Most people searching for a RugCheck alternative want a second opinion, not a replacement: a free Solana rug checker that shows where each finding comes from, so they can see why two tools disagree. RugSignal is built for that. Every check links to its source and observation time, missing evidence stays marked as unknown, and it adds checks that come from reading the token's own creation transaction and pool accounts, such as the verified launcher, launch-slot buyers and who can withdraw liquidity. It needs no wallet for a basic scan.
Two tools, one shared starting point
RugCheck (rugcheck.xyz) is a widely used Solana token checker. It summarizes a mint with a risk score and a list of named risks, and shows top holders, insider networks and markets with their reported LP lock share. RugSignal is a free Solana token scanner built around per-claim evidence. It reads RugCheck's API as one attributed source, next to Helius on-chain reads, DexScreener market data and protocol program accounts, and labels every value with where it came from. The two are complementary rather than interchangeable.
Unknown is reported as unknown
When a source does not answer or a mechanism is unsupported, RugSignal keeps the check as unknown and lists it under coverage instead of counting it as passed. A report shows which core domains (token controls, market, holders, liquidity) were completed, so a short list of warnings is never mistaken for a clean result. Critical findings stay visible even when the weighted points are low.
Who launched the token, verified from its creation transaction
RugSignal attributes a token to the wallet that signed its creation instruction under the launchpad's mint-authority account (Pump.fun and Meteora's dynamic bonding curve are supported), rather than to a mutable creator field. From that verified launcher it reports the launcher's current holding, how many tokens the wallet has created, launch-block buyers with exact shares, and top holders funded directly by the launcher. Where the creation transaction cannot be read, these checks stay unknown.
Liquidity control read from the pool program
For supported pools RugSignal reads the pool account itself: burned PumpSwap LP from the pool's LP supply, permanent-lock counters and position owners in Meteora DAMM v2, curve custody for active Pump.fun and Meteora bonding curves, and for Meteora DLMM a complete owner map built from every liquidity position, reconciled bin by bin. The report then states who can withdraw how much, and flags the case where the verified launcher can pull liquidity. Pools it cannot fully decode remain listed as unresolved with the reason.
Snapshots, history and alerts
Each RugSignal report is an immutable snapshot with its observation time, so a link always shows what was known when it was made, and later scans are compared as material changes. Old reports offer a one-click rescan. Pro adds a private watchlist with Telegram alerts when a watched token's deployer sells or moves funds, liquidity is pulled, top holders sell together, mint or freeze controls change, or the deployer launches another token. RugCheck is the better-known brand with its own community features; use whichever interface you prefer and compare the exact mint and observation time when results differ.
How to cross-check a token in both
Copy the exact mint address and paste it into both tools within a few minutes, so they read similar on-chain state. Compare the same items one by one: mint and freeze authority, the largest holders and which addresses each tool excludes as pools or burn accounts, the trading pool and its LP status, and creator or launch-buyer holdings. Where they differ, open the evidence behind the claim; in RugSignal each check names its source, slot or observation time. Treat a difference you cannot explain as unknown rather than picking the friendlier answer.
When the two disagree
Scanners can read different slots, use different holder exclusions (pools, burn addresses, curve custody), or apply different thresholds. Compare the exact mint and time first, then open the evidence behind each claim. A risk score from either tool is a policy summary, not a probability of fraud, and neither guarantees that you can sell. RugSignal does not claim higher accuracy than RugCheck; its independently reviewed accuracy benchmark is still pending.
